Anita “Hupy” Siccardi, Elder Care Coordinator

Before joining Applegate Elder Law as one of our Elder Care Coordinators, Anita spent six decades gaining an impressively rich variety of experiences in her nursing career. Anita earned a BSN degree from Texas Woman’s University, Masters in Education from University of Pittsburgh, MSN from IUPUI, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration.
She practiced as a medical surgical nurse practitioner focusing on gerontology in home health and created a wellness clinic at St. Augustine Home for the Aged. In the hospitals, Anita held positions as head nurse, nursing supervisor, and director of nursing education. In the academic world, she was Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Education at the University of Indianapolis and Dean of Leighton School of Nursing at Marian University.
When there was a need for army nurses, in 1989, Anita joined the Army Nurse Corps and served as a Captain at the 98th General Hospital in Nuremberg, Germany. When Desert Storm developed in the Gulf War, she volunteered and served in a leadership position assisting in setting up a Combat Support Hospital in the neutral zone in Saudi Arabia just south of Iraq.
Anita has been recognized with achievement awards from the military and academic arenas. She had the privilege of serving on health care provider boards including the Chairman of the Board of CICOA. Anita has been a consultant to nursing schools, hospitals and private agencies seeking to improve the delivery of health care. She is a member of honor societies and was inducted as a Fellow in the National Gerontological Society.
When Anita has free time, she enjoys travelling with her husband Jim, reading, and serving on the health ministry at her church.
